Haritham Illam – A Home Rooted in Light, Color, and Calm
Nestled in an urban setting yet inspired by the quiet beauty of nature, Haritham Illam is a home designed to feel fresh, open, and full of heart. Drawing its name from the Sanskrit word for “green,” and “illam” meaning “home,” in Tamil this project blends soft lime and olive tones with raw textures and gentle transitions to create a space that breathes.
From the floating foyer console in vibrant lime green to the earthy hall unit with raw concrete texture, every element in Haritham Illam was designed to balance minimalism with soul — making the most of light, space, and intention.
Designed with Love: A Harmonious Home with a Touch of Lime Green
Every home tells a story, and this one speaks of simplicity, intention, and warmth. Designed with immense love and attention to detail, this project allowed us to experiment with a unique palette — soft neutrals punctuated by vibrant lime green. Despite working within a modest budget, our goal was clear: to create a space that feels light, functional, and aesthetically powerful.
Foyer: A Gentle Welcome
The foyer sets the tone of the home — subtle yet striking. We designed a floating lime green console unit, paired with a mirror specially chosen at the client’s request to ward off the evil eye. This compact entryway was designed to be both symbolic and functional.One of the most charming details here is the elephant-print stencil work, bordered with a delicate wooden beading. This feature doesn’t just stand alone — it continues seamlessly from the foyer into the hall, creating a visual transition that guides you deeper into the home. It acts as a soft connector between spaces, adding a sense of flow and continuity while subtly weaving in cultural richness
Living Room: Raw Elegance
The living room reflects a clean, minimalistic style with warm undertones. The highlight is a custom-designed floating media unit — sleek and understated — with open ledges supported by industrial-style metal pipes. A raw concrete texture on the wall behind the unit adds a touch of rugged charm, while a delicate, custom-crafted border runs horizontally across it, drawing the eye and creating a focal point without overwhelming the space. Soft yellow and beige double curtains frame the long French windows, inviting morning sunlight to pour in and dance across the olive green accent wall. The interplay of natural light and color transforms the space into something truly serene — uplifting yet grounded.
Kitchen: A Playful Balance
We carried elements of the overall color story into the kitchen, where floral-printed tiles add a fresh, cheerful note. The layout is practical and efficient, designed with ample storage to meet the client’s needs without sacrificing style. Here, function and personality exist side by side — the cabinetry, fittings, and finishes all chosen to enhance usability while contributing to the home’s cohesive look.
Wardrobes & Storage: Simplicity with Character
Throughout the home, we opted for clean-lined wardrobe designs with playful details. Custom-painted handles and printed laminates make the storage units pop visually, adding texture and interest without complicating the design. These thoughtful touches ensure that even the most utilitarian elements reflect the character of the home.
Designing Within Constraints, Creating Without Limits
One of the most fulfilling aspects of this project was designing with a limited budget — a challenge we embraced fully. It pushed us to prioritize what truly matters: thoughtful planning, smart use of materials, and creating moments of beauty that resonate with the homeowner’s lifestyle. This home is a testament to how creativity, when guided by intention and love, can turn even the simplest of spaces into something memorable. From sunlight filtering through soft curtains to bold green accents and textured finishes — every detail was chosen with care, creating a space that feels not just designed, but deeply lived in.
